I’m going to make this. These are great numbers for my wife of 39 years, who struggles to get protein. I’ve always shopped and cooked, especially during her RNY journey………liquid, puree, soft, and now regular Bariatric diet with limitations. She is six months out and down 77 pounds!
My comment is about reduced-fat Grated Parmesan cheese. The nutritional label for the same brand, regular Grated Parmesan, says 1.5 g fat, while their reduced fat version states 1g fat. Big wow, we’ve been down some diet highways, and if there is any chance of tasting slightly off or having an aftertaste to save that minuscule half-gram, we’re not buying it. From what I just looked up at Publix, maybe not chance it for a half-gram difference in the fat content.
Do you or can you taste a difference between reduced fat grated parmesan cheese and regular grated parmesan cheese?
To keep our costs down, I try to buy only products that I know my wife likes and that “go down easy,” as she would say.
There have been zero complications thus far, and that includes zero dumping. :)
Sorry, I know I’m wordy.
Sorry, I did not identify myself in the previous comment. I’m Mike, Tammy’s husband.
Great question! In a recipe like this, you wouldn’t notice the flavor. It’s used as a binder instead of breadcrumbs. Sometimes my store doesn’t have a reduced fat in stock and I will buy the regular version. I agree with you, for the small amount of difference it’s okay to make the choice your own :)
