When you need a break from the traditional chocolate and vanilla protein shakes, lemon is sure to fit the bill.
Of course, you have to like lemon, but why would you be reading this far into this recipe post if you didn’t like lemon ;-)
Remember to use protein shakes for their appropriate use. (Check out my video series on the “Do’s and Don’ts of Protein”) If you are on a pre-op diet or early post-op diet, shakes are a smart idea. If you are more than a few months out of surgery, be sparing with shakes and focus on more filling protein sources like lean meats, low-fat cheeses and eggs.

- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
- 1/2 cup fat-free plain Greek yogurt
- 2-3 tsp grated lemon zest
- 1/2 cup ice cubes
- 6 oz water
- 2-3 tbsp sweetener of choice
