Bariatric Surgery patients can never have too many chili recipes. It’s such a wonderful way to get good protein in but while enjoying so many flavor profiles!
This chili is yet another flavorful meal full of protein. It’s also very easy utilizing the flavors already combined in a chunky salsa! Using fire-roasted tomatoes, chunky salsa, ground beef and chili powder bring this flavor profile to life quickly. This recipe provides 22 grams of protein for one-fifth of the entire pot. Add 2% cheese and/or Greek yogurt on top and you’ve increased the flavor AND the protein!

Easy 5 Ingredient Chili
Ingredients
- 1 lb 93% lean ground beef
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1/2 (15 oz) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 (14.5 oz) can fire-roasted diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 cup chunky salsa
- 1/2 tsp each salt and pepper
- optional toppings: 2% shredded cheddar, plain Greek yogurt
Instructions
- In the bottom of a stockpot, brown the ground beef. Drain and add chili powder.
- Add to the pot beans, tomatoes, salsa and salt and pepper. Stir and cook on medium-high heat until mixture has a soft boil. Turn heat to low and allow to simmer 10 more minutes.
- Pour into serving bowl and let cool. Top with plain non-fat greek yogurt (instead of sour cream) and 2% shredded cheese.
