Save the Date: Fall Focus Challenge
Fall “Get Focused” Challenge for Bariatric Patients
Hosted by Steph Wagner MS RDN
WHO:
The “Focus Challenge” is for any post-bariatric surgery patient needing focus on the lifestyle needed for long-term goals. Pre-op patients are welcome to participate.
The challenge is reserved for active members to FoodCoach.Me. You can read more and join hundreds of members here.
WHAT:
This is a “focus challenge” and not a weight loss challenge.
This is a 28 day period with increased community check-ins to encourage one another towards making the habits that lead to results. YOU pick the goals and we support you in reaching them.
I provide materials including meal plans, easy go-to recipes, dining out guides, no cook meal ideas, goal sheets and other suggestions members provide me. Email your suggestions to steph@foodcoach.me
Live check-in events are held once per week using Zoom Conference Calling. Members can opt-in to an accountability group on the Baritastic app.
WHEN:
Enrollment opens Thursday, October 24th! The link to enroll will be sent to active members.
Join today as a member to be ready for enrollment on October 24th! Access all current meal plans, videos, recipes and our online community today.
*The challenge is included in membership price and is not an extra cost. There is no long term commitment to joining as a member and you can cancel at anytime.
Enrollment will close on Tuesday, October 29th at 10pm CST.
WHERE:
Right here on FoodCoach.Me I will release the “Get Focused Challenge” Page the day enrollment opens. Each week a new ‘lesson’ will release with a video and meal plan. All updates will also be emailed out to notify you.
This allows participants to review materials and any shopping lists they may need prior to the official start of the 28 days on Thursday, October 31st.
Yes…this challenge runs HALLOWEEN TO THANKSGIVING. Talk about a challenge :) The final day of the challenge is the day before Turkey Day.
The first live check in chat of the challenge will take place Sunday, November 3rd. Two call times are available, 6pm or 8pm Central time.
Calls take place on Zoom which is a free online video call platform. Participants will get the link to join the call. Calls will be recorded for those unable to attend live.
WHY:
These challenges are hosted three times a year when focus tends to dip. The Fall in particular is the time to GET FOCUSED before the height of holiday season gets underway!
HOW (Next Steps):
If you are a current member – no action is needed. You’ll receive the email link to enroll. You will fill out a short form and be ready to go! In the meantime, consider what goals you may set for yourself. One goal related to food and one goal related to exercise.
Examples:
Food – I will keep a food journal for 3 days a week or I will avoid all excess sweets (cookies, chocolate, pastries)
Exercise – I will walk 20 minutes, 4 times a week or I will reach my step goal 5 days a week
Not a member?

I’m excited!!!
@Julie Tholen your membership is not currently active and I will send you an email to help you get re-activated!
I’m looking forward to the 28 day challenge. I’ve really gotten off track while I was traveling. I’m concentrating now on avoiding excess carbs.
@rosemarymcurtis This is why I keep these challenges going three times a year! I’ve noticed it’s a great way for everyone to refocus and we all need it throughout the year. Excited for you to get to feeling your best again!
I’m excited and apprehensive- I am way off track, I have no support and I live alone. It has been real easy not to cook or just go out to est. I get to feeling like I am the only one with these problems.
I am five weeks post-op and still on soft food phase…. would this challenge be ok for me or should I wait till next one?
Thanks
Karen
@Karen great question and congratulations on your surgery!!! I think some elements of the challenge will be helpful, but it’s completely up to you. The main focus on the challenge is to set a food related goal and an exercise related goal. You are really challenging yourself to the goal that you’ve picked. The social element is to encouraged others and feel encouraged in your own goal. Many members will be focused on getting back on track but we have had pre-ops and early post-ops join in and feel they learn from those further down the road! If you already feel focused and like your head is in the game, you can wait until the next one! Whatever you decide, you are certainly welcome to participate.
Thank you for sharing @LoisKaye Arnold! This is certainly a safe place to share and connect and find that you are not alone. We would love to have you join in and be your cheerleaders.
